Our clients who are approaching retirement age, engaged us to design a smaller residence than the one we designed for them when their kids were young. They wanted a site close to town. The site they purchased was small and had existing houses on three sides. To maximize privacy, we decided wrap the house around a central courtyard focusing all major views inward. The arrival experience for this residence starts at the small Paseo with beautiful antique doors facing the street. Passing through the Paseo, you enter the private landscaped courtyard on your way to the main residence. The architecture is influenced by the early Spanish colonial designs found in California and Mexico.
